Scientific Name of Tulsi is OCIMUM TENUIFLORUM

Flowers colour - Purple
Green Leaved - Sri Tulasi or Laxmi Tulasi
Purple Leaved - Krishna Tulasi
Ayurvedic usage - As a herbal tea and medicinal plant
Also known as - Holy Basil

Originates - North Central India

Types of Tulasi -
1) Rama Tulasi - Light green leaves and larger in size
2) Shyama Tulasi - Dark green leaves and important for worship of Hanuman

Prayer beads - made from Tulsi stem or roots
Tulsi rosaries put the wearer under protection of Lord Hanuman

Helpful for adapting to Stress

Dried leaves mixed with stored grains to repel insects
In Sri Lanka, this plant is used as a mosquito repellant

Recent studies by National Center for Biological Sciences at Bengaluru & few other have reaveled that Tulsi has anti-cancerous properties
