How to prevent dehydration in Dengue?

PREVENT DEHYDRATION

1) Dehydration can occur when a person loses too much fluid (from high fevers, vomiting, or poor oral intake).

2) Give plenty of fluids- ORS and juices are preferable to water

3) Watch for any signs of dehydration

A) Decrease in urination

B) Few or no tears when child cries

C) Dry mouth, tongue or lips

D) Sunken eyes

E) Listlessness or overly agitated or confused

F) Fast heart beat (more than 100/min)

G) Cold or clammy fingers and toes
