O Laxman, This Golden Lanka does not allure me.
The Mother and Motherland is dearer to me even than heaven.
- Valmiki Ramayan
This 'Shloka' is from the conversation between Lord Shree Ram and Laxman
This Shloka should be remembered on Vijayadashami.
Here Lord Rama says that Mother & Motherland is higher for Him even than heaven.
At end of Treta yuga, around 10 lac years before, Lord Rama tells Laxman that he is not interested in enjoying the Lanka which he had won. He said for him, the Mother & Motherland is higher than heaven. Vibheeshana becomes the King of Lanka as promised by Lord Rama to him.
