Quotes of the day :-)

Don't show your weaknesses to others.

By showing your weaknesses, you invite all those rivals awaiting to attack you.

Silence is the best penance and hence one of the best powers.

Those people under the influence of lust and greed are Parasitic natured. By showing your weaknesses to them, you invite the cannibal for a dinner.

If holes develop in walls of the house then the snakes creep in.

The greater you develop silence, the greater becomes the value of your speech.

Speech is silvern but silence is Golden.

The 8 Puris or Cities

Puries / Cities / Places of Pilgrimage

1) Ayodhya
2) Mathura
3) Maaya
4) Kaashi
5) Kanchi
6) Avantika
7) Jagannathpuri and
8) Dwarka

Importance of the places of pilgrimage

As per rules , a person going into this places of pilgrimage earns enough piety. So he or she is pulled to heavens or better after life destinations by heavenly powers.

This places of pilgrimage were made by the heavenly gods with an intention to uplift humans. Usually if a person conducts severe penance or makes a great sacrifice emotionally then such a place is converted into place of pilgrimage by heavenly powers as there is a lot of pure and pious energies there which lasts upto ages. Either such places are directly made by them or they hold the command giving section of the humans and inspires them to build temples at such places.

Sometimes faith also leads to construction of temple. Faith being a supernatural virtue, the deities do support such places by responding to those who visit such places. However compared to original place of pilgrimage, such temples do not exist Upto ages, as Faith is the only power holding them. Penance and sacrifice energies are usually absent at such temporary popular temples.

Hence importance of this 8 places is much higher as compared to other temple destinations and cities.

KBC questions - What is a Kharif crop?

Paddy - is a Kharif crop

Kharif crop means Monsoon crop.
They are sown at beginning of Monsoon

Opposite of Kharif crop is Rabi crop.
Rabi crop are grown in dry season.

Both Kharif and Rabi words came into use during Mughal period. In Arabic language, Kharif means autumn. And Rabi means Spring.

KBC questions - Who was Guru of Dronacharya, Karna and Bhishm?

Parshuram - The 8th Avtaar of Lord Vishnu and slayer of Kshatriyas for 21 times.

Dronacharya could get Him as a teacher as
he was a Brahmin and
Parshuram had pledged to give education only to Brahmins.

Karna was a Kshatriya
but he was successful in fooling Lord Parshuram
by coming in disguise of a Brahmin.

But one day a scorpion bited Karna and
Parshuram was laying asleep with his head in lap of Karna.

Karna did not moved an inch and tolerated all.
As blood fell on ground from his lap,
the sound of blood drops falling on ground,
awakened Parshuram.

Parshuram identified at once, that such a tolerance towards pain is possible,
only in Kshatriya and not a Brahmin.
This is because Brahmins are soft natured.

After correct identity was revealed,
He cursed Karna that the Vidya gained by him will fail at that time,
when he will be needing it mostly.

Bhishma was given education by Lord Parshuram inspite of being a Kshatriya.
This was due to 2 reasons.

First , being child of Goddess Ganga ,
he was half God.

Secondly He did not wanted to invite the anger of Goddess Ganga
by denying to become a Guru of the beloved son of Goddess Ganga.
