Durva - is usually green grass having equal lengths.
Durva is offered to Lord Ganesh.
As per a story, Lord Ganesh had a fight with a very powerful demon. Seeing no other way to defeat him, Lord Ganesh through Mahima Siddhi expanded Himself. Later He swallowed the demon.
This helped. It killed the demon. But the energies released by demon, made the body of Lord Ganesh blaze like anything. He started feeling internal heat which was intolerable.
Everyone tried to help through various ways to pacify the heat including Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, the AshwiniKumars (sort of chemists of heavens) etc but the heat didn't subsided. It is said as a small child sleeps on floor and cries beating his legs on the floor, such was the position of Lord Ganesh.
When all efforts failed, it is said the Saptarishis came up with this Durva and placed on head of Lord Ganesh and the heat subsided.
This also gives us a hint that green grass may have ability to subside spiritual heats.
Since then, Lord Ganesh likes Durva very much.
His latest manifestation or miracle which was very Powerful and having world wide impact was noted in 1995. It gave a glimpse of His all presence power which removed the doubts of great spiritualists that presence of the power called all present is only in powerful gods like Creator, Preserver and Destroyer.

However Maya power of Lord Vishnu is too powerful. Inspite of seeing this miracle, most were brainwashed to believe it as Not possible and tried to link it with mass hysteria. As this is Kaliyug or dark age, as per rules, gods are not allowed to manifest, nor to show any miracle, so must be the impact.
